"Advent, like its cousin Lent, is a season for prayer and reformation of our hearts.
Since it comes at winter time, fire is a fitting sign to help us celebrate Advent…
If Christ is to come more fully into our lives this Christmas, if God is to become really incarnate for us, then fire will have to be present in our prayer.
Our worship and devotion will have to stoke the kind of fire in our souls that can truly change our hearts.
Ours is a great responsibility not to waste this Advent time."
Edward Hays, A Pilgrim's Almanac
On this First Sunday of Advent, we celebrated by getting our Christmas Tree as a family.
I know it's the beginning of ADVENT, and not Christmas, but we wanted to have the tree all through Advent and then through the 12 days of Christmas - especially because we will be in Michigan during the middle of the month visiting Bill's family - and we won't really have time to decorate later in the month!
And it was a great way to start this wonderful season:
O Come O Come, Emmanuel!
These pictures are killing me-- your girls are SO CUTE!! Miss you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, miss you lots, too!
DeleteI always think about you in the sun when we get snow here - like today!
Loos beautiful, Sarah!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the pic of you and your girls!!!
Matching outfits are my favorite!!!!
And that smiley baby made my day!
Love your love of our faith too, my friend. : )
Awe, thanks!
DeleteYes, matching outfits are great, especially when grandma buys them ;)
Hope it's been a good advent for you all!
Sarah! How do you look even younger and prettier AFTER kids? I kinda hate you ;)
ReplyDeleteOh matching girls is pretty much the best...not sure how long my boys will let me do it...
Ummm, thanks, but I think you meant 50 pounds heavier?
DeleteYea, but what are you going to do? I guess just eat more buckeyes!
Miss you!
There seem to be a lot of photos of that Michigan ornament in this post...not too sure about that?! Kudos to you guys for getting the tree up so early! Looks like a lovely outing :-)
ReplyDeleteHeehee, yes, those were the ones she was allowed to "handle." :)
DeleteThe funny thing is, she keeps rearranging them, like every hour.
Too cute! So fun to see you - crazy that was just last week!
Hope the Crawfords are doing well!
