7 Quick Takes - Saint Edition

Well September has come and gone and I can't believe we are through the first week of October - one of my favorite months!

How great has the last week been for SAINTS' FEASTS DAYS?!  Awesome!!!

1.) Today, October 5th, is the feast day of St. Mary Faustina Kolawska.  The prayer and devotion of Jesus through Divine Mercy is based on St. Faustina's writings.  Praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet has become such as special prayer in our family and we have all felt the graces from it at certain times.  It's pretty amazing that her message is all about mercy and when she died in 1938, WWII was about to start.  Could there be another time in history when so much mercy was needed during the Nazi Regime and the Holocaust (well, possibly in today's world, and that's why we need the Chaplet so badly!)!?!?  This little Polish nun's message and Diary has changed the world!

(I've never read or heard this story, but came across it while googling Divine Mercy - How Divine Mercy Played Into "Miracle on the Hudson.")

2.) St. Michael and the Archangels feast day was on Sunday.

A popular tattoo image?  You bet!  ;)

3.) St. Jerome, on Monday.

I love this depiction of St. Jerome, one of the four Great Doctors of the Church.  He is always pictured at a desk because he  revised the Latin Bible (Vulgate) and is also seen here with the lion who followed him into Rome after being a hermit in the Syrian desert for four years.

4.) Tuesday, October 1st, was the feast day of St. Theres of Lisieux.

Ahhh the Little Flower who became a Doctor of the Church by JPII,  joining St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Teresa of Avila (who also has a feast day this month)!  She reminds us that it's the little and simple things that keep God's kingdom growing.

5.) Wednesday, Feast of the Guardian Angels

Maybe Addie and June's Guardian Angels look like this?  Love this picture!

6.) St. Mother Theodore Guerin, Thursday.

Indiana's own!

7.) And yesterday, October 4th, was the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, one of the most beloved saints of all time.  And how cool was it that Pope FRANCIS was in Assisi to celebrate!?

Thank you, God, for such wonderful witnesses to Your love this past week!
